He later joined the prestigious and illustrious Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital at Mumbai to train to be a Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgeon. Guided by his teacher Prof. A M Patwardhan, he blossomed into a fine surgeon. During his residency he was involved in a lot of research activities, principal among them being his work in the surgical treatment of Atrial Fibrillation, a disturbance of the rhythm of the heart. This has been published in International Journal as well.
After obtaining his M.Ch degree in CVTS in 2004 he moved to Bangalore and joined Dr. Devi Shetty at Narayana Hrudayalaya. The extensive and rich experience he gained working with Dr. Devi Shetty was instrumental in developing him into a mature surgeon at an young age. He was one of the most talented young surgeons at Narayana Hrudayalaya and was chosen to train additionally in heart transplantation and Ventricular Assist Devices (Artificial Hearts), at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA, considered as the Mecca of Cardiac Surgery.
After his return he set up the Artificial Heart Program at Narayana Hrudayalaya, in 2008, the first of its kind in the entire country. He has the credit of being the first to implant the latest 3rd generation Artificial Heart in a patient with terminal heart failure, for the first time in entire Asia. Because of this, he is credited with a mention in the Limca Book of Records. He was also a key member of the team that performed the first successful Heart Transplantation in Karnataka, in 2008, at Narayana Hrudayalaya.
During his nearly decade long, fruitful stay at Narayana Hrudayalaya he gained an exhaustive experience of nearly 5000 cardiac operations. He is adept at handling nearly the entire range of Cardiac surgeries, like Beating heart and onpump CABG, Coronary endarterectomies, Valve repairs and replacements, aortic root surgeries, aortic aneurysm surgeries, ventricular reconstructions, surgery for heart failure like Transplants and Artificial heart implantation, surgery for congenital heart diseases like ASD, VSD, Tetrology of Fallot, PDA, aortic co-arctation etc.
Along with his colleague Dr. Chiranbabu, he was instrumental in developing the Minimally Invasive Cardiac surgical program (Key hole surgery) at Narayana Hrudayalaya.
He was honoured with a special award for excellence in cardiac surgery by the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Rosaiah, in 2010. He is also the youngest recipient of Vasavasiri, the highest title conferred in his Aryavysya community, to people with special accomplishments.

He brings his rich experience to Sparsh Hospital which he joined along with his colleague Dr. Chiranbabu, in June 2014. Together they have set up the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery at Sparsh Hospital.
